Location
Izu Islands 伊豆諸島 Izu-shotō is a group of volcanic islands south of Honshu in Japan spanning from the Izu Peninsula on Honshu southwards into the Pacific Ocean. Today part of Tokyo Metropolis (Tokyo Prefecture). In Japanese known as the Seven Islands of Izu but in fact there are more than a dozen islands in the chain with nine uninhabited. The islands include: Izu Ōshima (Ōshima), To-shima, Udone-shima, Nii-jima, Shikine-jima, Kōzu-shima, Miyake-jima, Ōnohara-jima, Mikura-jima, Inamba-jima. Hachijo Subprefecture includes Hachijō-jima, Hachijō-kojima, Aogashima, Myōjin-shō (Bayonnaise Rocks), Sumisu-tō, Tori-shima and Sōfu-iwa (Lot's Wife).
