Lat 35° 42' 0N Long 139° 25' 0E  Tachikawa is located at an elevation of 187' / 56m above sea level roughly 40 km west of the Tokyo in the Tokyo Metropolis (Tokyo Prefecture) of Honshū in Japan. Also known as "Tatikawa".

Tachikawa City was founded on December 1, 1940.

Wartime History
During the 1930s until the end of the Pacific War, Hitachi and Showa Aircraft Industry operated factories in Tachikawa.
