    Cape Cretin Morobe Province Papua New Guinea (PNG)

Cape Cretin is located to the south of Finschafen.

Wartime History
Cape Cretin was developed into a US Navy and US Army base. Used as a staging area by 45,110 men troops from the 1st Cavalry Division, prior to their landings in the Admiralties. All troops were to concentrate at Oro Bay and Cape Cretin with the Australian Army 6th Division was designated as a reserve force.

During late 1943 the US Navy established a patrol boat base at this location.

Sunk October 3, 1943 by Japanese submarine RO-108 off Cape Cretin
