Location Lat 3° 34' 43S Long 143° 39' 10E Kreer is located on high ground at an elevation of 157' / 47m inland from the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as Kreer Hill or Kreer Heights for the high ground to the south. Immediately to the east is Boram (Cape Boram) and Boram Airfield. To the west is Mission Point and Wewak Town (Wewak Point). Borders Wewak Harbor to the north and beyond the Bismarck Sea. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Territory of New Guinea. Today, located in the Wewak District of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wewak POW Camp (Kreer POW Camp) Near the beach at Kreer was an POW camp for Allied prisoners. The camp consisted of a perimeter barbed wire fence with bamboo cages and native huts. Some POWs were sent to Rabaul and then onto Japan. Of those who remained at Wewak, none survived. Kreer Catholic Mission Located atop a hilltop overlooking Kreer. Japanese searchlight Emplaced on the hilltop. Japanese Type 97 Motorcycle Abandoned on the hilltop. Contribute
