Lat 10° 40' 0S Long 152° 45' 0E  Misima Island is located to the northeast of Deboyne Island Group.

Wartime History
During the Battle of the Coral Sea on May 7, 1942 at midnight the Navy Cover Group, commanded by Rear-Admiral Goto, including the Shoho, four heavy cruisers and one destroyer with the invasion Group of 11 transports passed near Misima Island bound for the Jomard Passage towards Port Moresby. At 10:40am carrier aircraft from the USS Lexington (CV-2) spotted an aircraft carrier, two or three cruisers, and some destroyers. 92 USN carrier aircraft attacked, sinking Shoho at 11:35am.
