Motukea Island is located inside the northern end of Fairfax Harbor surrounded by coral reef and mangrove swamps. To the southeast is Tatana Island and Port Moresby (Town). To the southwest is Napa Napa.

Motukea Island has been expanded with land fill to create a much larger rectangular shaped island connected to the mainland by a road. The island is owned by construction company Curtain Brothers and used as their headquarters and depot area with a marina for boats.
