Location Pig Island is a small island located off the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as Tab Island or Gosem Island. To the west is Nagada Harbor (Fredrich Karl Harbor) and Nagada. To the south is Madang. Prewar, Lutheran missionary Ted Radke planted a large garden of crops on Pig Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War known as the Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Today, Jais Aben Resort is located due west on the north coast. Wartime History During the Japanese occupation of the area, the missionaries were allowed to tend Radke's garden, but kept the best crops for themselves.
