Lat 4° 24' 0S Long 152° 7' 60E  Takubar is located on the northern coast of New Britain bordering Blanche Bay to the north. To the west are Vunapope and Kokopo. To the east is Lesson Point, Rapopo and Rapopo Airfield.

Wartime History
During January 1942, occupied by the Japanese until the offical surrender of Japan in September 1945. During 1942-1944 the coastal area off Takubar was used as a Japanese anchorage for cargo vessels and small ships.

During April 2001, at Takubar township unexploded ordnance including 14 x 50kg bombs were located by provincial disaster coordinator.
