Lat 10° 13' 0S Long 150° 25' 60E  Taupota is located on the northern coast of the east cape, due north of Milne Bay. Wartime spelling "Taupota".

Wartime History
During late September 1942, the Japanese planned to land a group of 290 Army and 60 Sasebo 5th Special Naval Landing Force (SNLF) troops at this location, that would walk overland to Milne Bay. Instead, their barges were attacked by RAAF 75 Squadron P-40 Kittyhawks and stranded on Goodenough Island.
