    Aumbaamba Island (Aumba Island) Western Province Solomon Islands

Aumbaamba Island is located in Munda Harbor to the south of New Georgia Island. Also known as Aumba Island. To the north is Munda Airfield (Munda Point Airfield) and Munda (Munda Point) on the southern coast of New Georgia Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Western Province in the Solomon Islands.

During the immediate postwar era, Aumbaamba island was occupied by British colonial officials including the residence for the District Officer for New Georgia. During early January 1949 Mr. T. Russell was appointed as District Officer for New Georgia and resided on the island.
