Location
Maifu Island is a small island between the southern coast of Bougainville to the north and Shortland Island to the south. Today, located to the south of the international border between Papua New Guinea and Bougainville Province bordering the Solomon Islands and Western Province. To the north is Alasina Island. To the east is Kukuvulu Island and Elo Island. To the southeast is Nusave Island and Ballale Island.
