View westward from HMAS Manoora (F48) led by HMAS Vendetta enters Blanche Bay
The two vessels steamed westward from St. Georges Channel into Blanche Bay then anchored in Simpson Harbor off Rabaul. In the distance is South Daughter (Mount Turangunan) at the tip of the Gazelle Peninsula. On the bow are trooops aboard HMAS Manoora (F48) watching their arrival as the first Allied troops to occupy the area.
