Ship History
Kirishima was the third Kongō-class battlecruiser designed by Vickers naval architect Sir George Thurston. Built by Mitsubishi Shipyard of Mitsubishi Goshi Kaisha. Laid down March 17, 1912. Launched December 1, 1913. Comissioned April 19, 1915. The Kongō-class battlecruises included Kongō, Hiei, Kirishima, and Haruna.


Sinking History
On November 15, 1942 during the Second Naval Battle of Guadalcanal sunk into Iron Bottom Sound west of Savo Island.
