Ship History
Built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Company's Fore River plant. Laid down on January 2, 1934 at Quincy, Massachusetts. Launched on May 21, 1936. Commissioned February 24, 1937 with Captain Burton H. Green in command.


Sinking History
On August 9, 1942 sunk during the Battle of Savo Island into Iron Bottom Sound to the east of Savo Island.
