Ship History
Built by Higgins Industries in Louisiana. Delivered to the U. S. Navy (USN) as an Landing Craft Mechanized, Mark 3 LCM(3).

Wartime History
During the American usage Gavutu Harbor circa 1942–1945 this LCM was sunk off Gavutu Island to the north of the wharf and to the east of Makambo Island.

Kevin Denlay adds:
"It is basically north of Gavutu wharf and east of Makambo, in 'about' 30m (if I recall correctly). Note the remains of the two .50 Browning mounts that now sit in the bed of the tray (but were once mounted either side of the coxswains position)."
