Volcano Eruption
It is a common appearance to see the active volcano emitting a plume of ash. Other days, the volcano rumbles or sounds like continuous gun fire. Still others, it sits quite. In 1994, the volcanic erupted ash that completely covered the town. Luckily due to accurate predictions, there was no loss of life from the blast.

Here you can see the buildup of ash that is literally raining down from the crater behind me. In a matter of minutes everything was coated with snowflake size bits of black ash.

Along the black ash beaches, there are bubbling thermal vents that cause the sea water to boil. Here, the rocks are stained rust color from oxidation.

The area that was covered in ash six years ago still looks like a lunar landscape. The volume of ash was incredible testament to the power of this volcano.
