Aircraft History Built by Nakajima as the 43rd Model 62 manufactured. Delivered to the IJN as Type 0 Carrier Fighter Reisen / A6M7 Model 62 Zero Manufacture Number 23186. Wartime History Assigned to the Yokosuka Kōkūtai (Yokosuka Air Group). Tail code ヨ-143. This Zero operated from Yokosuka Airfield. In early September 1945 surrendered to American occupation forces in Japan. Postwar, transported to the United States for technical evaluation by the U.S. Navy. Display During 1946, to NAS Willow Grove and displayed outdoors as part of the David Ascher collection with aluminum finish with tail ヨ1. In 1962, acquired by the National Air & Space Museum (NASM) and partially restored by New England Air Museum.
