Aircraft History Built by Douglas. Manufacture Number 27796. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as A-26B-61-DL Invader serial number 44-34517. On September 1, 1947 assigned to the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and redesignated B-26B-61-DL Invader serial number 44-34517. Assigned to the 17th Bombardment Wing (17th BW) painted overall black. Squadron Code BC-517. At the top of the tail was a large "P" with at painted top edge. Below on the tail and rudder was "U.S. Air Force" and "434517" the abbreviated serial number 44-34517. Assigned to pilot Lt. Robert C. Mikesh with crew chief T/Sgt J. A. Torporowski and assistant crew chief, A 2/c E. M. Ksepha. Nicknamed "Monie" in a cursive font named by pilot Mikesh after his wife. To the right was the nose art of a woman wearing a white shirt and skirt both hands near her hair in a reclining position with legs crossed. On the left side of the nose were five lines of stenciled text that read: "Lt. R. C. Mikesh Pilot, Lt. J. L. Middleton Nav. Bomb., A/2c W. E. Kitchen Gunner, T/Sgt J. A. Torporowski C/C, A 2/c E. M. Ksepha Asst C/C. During November 1952, this A-26 operated from both Pusan East Air Base (K-9) and Pusan West Airfield (K-1) in South Korea and was flown on at least 50 combat missions over North Korea. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared or scrapped.
