Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi or Nakajima. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Carrier Fighter / A6M2 Model 21 Zero manufacture number 1393. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). No known markings or tail code. Mission History This Zero ditched into Wide Bay. Most likely, the pilot survived and swam ashore. Wreckage This Zero is upside down on a sandy bottom at a depth of 12m inside Wide Bay. The Zero has extensive battle damage on the wing and engine. During the middle of 2012 found by MV Barbarian II / Rod Pearce using side scan sonar (SSS). First dive was by Rod Pearce. References Thanks to Rod Pearce for additional information Contribute
