Aircraft History
Buitl by Nakakima during 1942. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as A6M2 Model 21 Zero manufacture number unknown. This aircraft appears to have been patched together and modified slightly with later model fittings from repairs or use of available parts. Aircraft code 08 was found on the landing gear leg door. This Zero had green upper surfaces and gray / green lower surfaces.

This Zero was most likely one of nineteen from the Shumshu Detachment, made up of aircraft from 203 Kōkūtai (203 Air Group) that was withdrawn back to Japan and left their aircraft behind. Tail 03-08. This Zero was abandoned at Kataoka Airfield on Shumshu Island.

Recovered in 2003 by the Hunt brothers transported to the United Kingdom where it is in storage, awaiting a buyer to recuperate recovery cost. Later sold as a long term restoration project.
