This Zero operated from Kahili Airfield (Buin) on southern Bougainville. Likely, this Zero was damaged or destroyed at Kahili Airfield (Buin) and written off and abandoned.

Wreckage
The upside down tail wreckage of this aircraft remains in situ at the airfield with manufacture number 3023 stenciled inside the tail cone.
