Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fotress serial number 41-9059. On March 29, 1942 deilvered to Boise, Idaho. On May 29, 1942 flown to Lowry. On June 7, 1942 flown to Hickam Field on Oahu. Later, ferried overseas to the South Pacific (SoPAC). Wartime History Assigned to the 13th Air Force (13th AF), 5th Bombardment Group (5th BG), 72nd Bombardment Squadron (72nd BS). Nicknamed "Boomerang" inside double quotation marks in a bold font. Below was a scoreboard with four rising sun flags indicating aerial victory claims by gunners and seven marks indicating missions flown (three ovals and four bomb marks). During early 1943, operated from Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. On June 11, 1945 written off. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
