Aircraft History Built by Douglas as a B-18, constructors number 1890. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC) as B-18 serial number 37-029. On June 20, 1941 became part of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Later, converted into a B-18B Bolo. Postwar During 1945 sold as war surplus. Purchased by Avery Aviation and used as an aerial tanker with registration NC52056. Later, owned by Hawkins and Powers with registration to N52056 and used for firefighting to dropping borate. Display This B-18 is displayed outdoors at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. The plane has an unpainted aluminum finish with prewar U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC) markings with tail code BI-24 with "24" at the center of the nose. Both engine cowlings are painted red. The tail has tail code BI-24 and the rudder is painted with white and red stripes. References The serial number also listed as 37-29 in some sources.
