Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Constructors Number 516. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24D-1-CO Liberator serial number 41-23721. One tail from this aircraft was attached to B-24D Liberator 41-23755 as the right tail either at the Consolidated factory while being built or as a replacement part in the United States or possibly in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). This tail was attached to that bomber when it crashed on February 7, 1943. This tail with stenciled "123721" remained at the crash site of that bomber until the early 1970s. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
