On February 16, 1943 co-pilot B-24D "Bundles For Japan" 41-23969 bailed out and was rescued. Postwar remained in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and was promoted to the rank of Major. On March 26, 1953 died as student pilot in the crash of B-47B Stratojet 50-035 near Wichita AFB in Wichita, Kansas.
