U.S. Army team salvages materials from B-24D "Scorpion" 41-24073
Wartime caption: "Salvage crews go to work on a B-24 Liberator bomber which had to make a crash landing on the northeast beach of New Guinea when it ran out of gas on its 36th combat mission. None of the crew was hurt and 85 percent of the plane will be used again. Jeep at left was brought in to help move heavy parts to small landing boats for removal to an air depot."
