Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Constructors Number 1084. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24D-25-CO Liberator serial number 41-24289. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 90th Bombardment Group, 400th Bombardment Squadron. Nicknamed "Sadie". Later, nicknamed "Connell's Special the 2nd" after Brigadier General Carl Connell, who was in charge of the Air Depot at Brisbane where this aircraft was modified during early 1943 after B-24D "Connell's Special" 41-23765.
