On April 12, 1944 pilot of B-24D "Yankee Doodle Dandy" 42-40077 on a mission against Hollandia and was shot down over the target area. After bailing out, he became a Prisoner Of War (POW) and was executed by the Japanese and remains listed as Missing In Action (MIA).
