Aircraft History Wartime History This B-24 flew at least 100 combat missions over New Guinea. On October 14, 1944 took off piloted by Albert C. Beyerlein on a bombing mission against oil refineries at Balikpapan. Afterwards, removed from combat duty as war weary. At the end of the war, abandoned with the gun turrets and engines removed at Nadzab Airfield. Scrapped during 1947. Contribute
