On December 23, 1943 radar operator aboard B-24D "Flying Wolf" 42-41091 who was Wounded In Action (WIA) in the head by Shrapnel or shell fragments from a Japanese fighter interception and air combat and fell unconscious. Later that night, he died of his wounds at Faita Airfield.
