Aircraft History Built by Consolidated. Constructors Number 297. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24J-1-CF Liberator serial number 42-64048. Converted to F-7A photographic reconnaissance version. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 6th Photographic Reconnaissance Group (6th PRG), 20th Combat Mapping Squadron (CMS). Nicknamed "Wango Wango Bird". Assigned to pilot Hunt. During 1944, this F-7A flew photographic reconnaissance missions over New Guinea and the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Mission History On June 17, 1944 destroyed while landing at Nadzab Airfield. Afterwards this aircraft was written off.
