B-24D "Uncle Sam" 42-72811 right side in flight
The
right side includes the nickname "Uncle Sam" and nose art of Uncle Sam figure. The fuselage and lower side of the right wing has the U.S. star and bar insignia. The tail has serial number 272811 (shortened version of 42-72811) with larger 811 (last three digits of the serial number) and a white diagonal stripe.
