2nd Lt. Stephen J. Dabrowski poses with B-24D "Galloping Gus"
On January 21, 1944 bombardier B-24J Liberator 42-72999 crashed outside Tarawa Lagoon and was declared Missing In Action (MIA). Afterwards, his remains were later recovered and buried at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).
