Aircraft History Built by Consolidated. Constructors Number 4250. At the factory completed with an aluminum finish. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24J-155-CO Liberator serial number 44-40314. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 90th Bombardment Group (90th BG) "Jolly Rogers", 319th Bombardment Squadron (319th BS) "Asterperious". Nicknamed "Queen Mae" in yellow block letters with a black shadow with the nose art of a female nude wearing a crown and a red cape with white trim and a center clasp with the skull and crossed bomb motif of the 90th BG and in her right hand holding a scepter with the same motif. She is seated with one leg folded atop a pair of bombs with a blue circle behind. The nose art was painted by Merkling. Above the nose art was a scoreboard of black bombs indicating missions flown with a star above each bomb. The tail had the skull and crossed bomb motif with "314" (last three digits of the serial number) at the top and a red and white rudder. During 1944-1945 this bomber operated in the Philippines. On June 18, 1945 scrapped in the Philippines.
