"Sgt Nobe rams and downs two B-29s over Kyushu"
Photograph of the painting by artist Nakamura Kenichi that depicts Ki-45 Nick piloted by Sgt Nobe ramming B-29 "Gertrude C" 42-6368 causing it to explode with wreckage shearing off the tail stabilizer of B-29 "Calamity Sue" 42-6334 and causing it to enter a spin and crash and resulted in the loss of two bombers. Sgt Nobe's attack was the first deliberate ramming of B-29s over Japan. In the distance are other B-29s in the formation.
