Aircraft History Built by Aichi as the 190th of 200 aircraft built under contract for Nakajima with an estimated assembly in August 1943. True serial number 190. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 97 Carrier Attack Bomber Kanko / B5N2 Kate manufacture number 3190. Mission History On November 11, 1943 took off on a mission against U.S. forces at Torokina on western Bougainville. This Kate crashed at Cape Torokina. Wreckage After the crash, this aircraft was investigated by American intelligence and noted the aircraft as a Kate Model 12 built by Aichi with manufacture number 3190 and estimated the assembly date as September 1943 (sic August 1943).
