Aircraft History Built by Nakajima. True serial number unknown. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 97 Carrier Attack Bomber Kanko / B5N2 Kate manufacture number unknown. Wartime History This Kate ditched near Karu Bay off the north coast of New Ireland. Wreckage Reportedly, a three seat aircraft, but not a Jake. Rod Pearce reports: "I have just found the most beautiful Japanese plane off New Ireland, at a place called Moo Moo Island approximately 60 miles south of Kavieng. Its a 3 seater but still cannot ID it its not a Jake. Visibility is 40-50 meters and is in 23 meters." Contribute
