Aircraft History Built by Bristol in the UK and assigned Royal Air Force (RAF) Beaufighter Mark VIc serial number T5264. Disassembled and loaded as cargo departing on October 19, 1942 for Australia. Wartime History Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Beaufighter Mark VIc serial number A19-87. On December 14, 1942 assigned to 2 Air Depot (2 AD). On January 31, 1943 assigned to 5 Air Depot (5 AD). On February 21, 1942 assigned to No. 30 Squadron with fuselage code R in white forward of the roundel. On March 3, 1943 during the Battle of the Bismarck Sea took off piloted by F/O Roe with navigator FSgt Fisken to attack Japanese ships. On March 5, 1943 the left engine was damaged by enemy gunfire. The next day assigned to 15 Aircraft Repair Depot (15 ARD) for repair and returned to the squadron eleven days later. On September 5, 1943 again sustained damage from enemy action. On October 4, 1943 to 15 Aircraft Repair Depot (15 ARD) for 240 hour inspection. On December 16, 1943 returned to No. 30 Squadron. Mission History On May 15, 1944 during take off from Gurney Airfield near Milne Bay piloted by pilot F/Sgt T. M. Boehm with navigator W/O C. N. E. Wilson and passengers W/O F. J. Lynch and F/O M. E. Towill swung off the runway and the landing gear broke off and the plane was damaged. Wreckage On May 19, 1944 transferred to 10 Repair Salvage Unit (10 RSU). On June 10, 1944 converted to components. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
