Aircraft History Built by the Department of Aircraft Production (DAP) at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne. Wartime History Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Beaufort Mark VIII serial number A9-583. Assigned to 1 Operational Training Unit (1 OTU). No known nickname or nose art. This Beaufort flew 120 operational sorties during the Pacific War. During 1945 during a third victory loan tour, this Beaufort accompanied Lancaster A66-2 on the tour. Postwar On October 23, 1945 placed into storage at RAAF Fairbairn. Officially stricken from charge during August 1949. Acquired by the Australian War Memorial (AWM).
