Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 12360. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47A-5-DK Skytrain serial number 42-92547. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History During February 1944 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as C-47A Dakota serial number A65-32. Call sign VH-CUD. Assigned to No. 36 Squadron, No. 33 Squadron and No. 38 Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. Postwar Purchased by Queensland Airlines (Aircrafts Pty Ltd.) and assigned callsign VH-BBV and nicknamed "Wide Bay". On March 14, 1954, crashed into sea off Mackay, two were killed in the crash.
