Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 26638. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47B-15-DK Skytrain serial number 43-49377. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History During January 1945, delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as C-47B Dakota serial number A65-67. Assigned tail code VH-JRE, VH-JRA and VH-JRW. Served at Air Navigation School at East Sale Airfield. Post War During November 1975 loaned to Papua New Guinea (PNG) for use by the Papua New Guinea Defense Force (PNGDF) with serial number P65-003 and registration P2-003. In the 1980s, operated in New Guinea. During August 1993 returned to Australia with Australian registration VH-PTE. In 1993 placed on display at Amaroo Tavern in Moree, NSW.
