Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number unknown. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47 Skytrain serial number unknown. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 433rd Troop Carrier Group (433rd TCG), 66th Troop Carrier Squadron (66th TCS). Squadron Number 238 (Buzz Number 238). Nicknamed "Sandy" in white on the left side of the nose. On the left engine cowling was "Thelma". During 1943, this C-47 operated from New Guinea.
