Aircraft History
Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 27268. At the factory, completed with a natural aluminum finish. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-54E-1-DO Skymaster serial number 44-9042. During 1945, assigned to Air Transport Command (ATC) with the circular logo on the rear fuselage.

On August 8, 1945 at took off at 10:00pm from Long Beach Airport transporting the flag covered casket with the remains of Major Richard I. Bong. Also aboard was his widow, Marjorie "Marge" Bong and her friend C. Clarence Toy with military escort Colonel Kenneth McGregor and eight pilots assigned to Long Beach who would serve as honorary pall bearers on a flight to Duluth Airport. On arrival, his casket was received by a military honor guard.

On September 18, 1947 assigned to the U.S. Air Force (USAF). On June 29, 1975 to Military Aircraft Storage and Disposition Center (MASDC) at Davis–Monthan Air Force Base (Davis–Monthan AFB) as CC262.

During 1979 sold as surplus. In March 1982, parked at Gila River Memorial Airport near Gila River Indian Reservation, Arizona. On October 6, 1983 purchased by David F. Ateah of Tucson, Arizona and registered in the United States as DC-4 N84803. Painted with a black nose cowling with the fuselage painted white upper half and gray lower half with a black line diving the colors. During March 1982, parked at Gila River Memorial Airport near Gila River Indian Reservation, Arizona. Registration expired June 5, 2013. Ultimate fate unknown.
