Aircraft History Built by de Havilland as DH.60G Moth. Constructors Number 973. Registered in the United Kingdom as G-AUKL with Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) 275. During 1928 disassembled and loaded as cargo on a ship bound for Australia. On January 4, 1929 issued Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) 1752. On April 2, 1929 aquired by Taylor & Ross Air Transport Co and registered in Australia as VH-UKL. Mission History On May 12, 1929 took off from Lae Airfield piloted by L. H. Ross with a passenger on a taxi flight. While airborne, the plane suffered fuel starvation due to vapor lock and force landed and crashed into trees near Lae. In the crash, the pilot and passenger were unhurt but the plane was substantially damaged.
