Aircraft History
Built by Aichi by Kyushu Hikoki KK at Watanabe Iron Works. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type Zero Reconnaissance Seaplane / E13A1 Jake. Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai, likely 958 Kōkūtai based at Kavieng Harbor Seaplane Base.

Wartime History
This aircraft was likely sunk while moored at Kavieng Seaplane Base in Kavieng Harbor.

Wreckage
This Jake is upright on a flat sandy bottom at a depth of 16m / 53'. The upper two propeller blades are not bent indicating it was likely sunk while moored and did not make a force landing and simply sank to the bottom.
