Aircraft History Built by Aichi at Watanabe Iron Works. True serial number unknown. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Reconnaissance Seaplane / E13A1 Reisen Shiki Sui Tei (Jake) manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group), likely 958 Kōkūtai (958 Air Group). This Jake operated from Shortland Harbor Seaplane Base. Abandoned or sunk in the center of Tuha Channel. Wreckage This Jake is upright on the sea floor on a sandy bottom. The outer wings are and tail are missing, likely indicating this Jake was being serviced or repaired before it sank. The engine is intact without the propeller, also likely removed before sunk for servicing. The cockpit control yoke is removed or missing.
