Rescue of Ensign Galvin pilot of F6F Hellcat 40695 from Taugalap Island
Notes by USN Air Group Commander Andrew Jackson reads:
"Float plane attempting to aid in the rescue severed line from submarine to raft, stranding all four men. Another volunteer F. Paquet GM1c managed to get another line to the waiting men. During this entire rescue Jap snipers concealed in the trees fired on the submarine and the men in the water."
