Slingerland was credited with three victories over Manila. On October 15, 1944 two Ki-43 Oscars. On October 17, 1944 a Ki-43 Oscar probable and Zeke over Manila.

Aircraft History
Built by Grumman as model G-50 in Bethpage, New York. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as F6F-5 Hellcat bureau number 58140.

Wartime History
Assigned to USS Franklin (CV-13) to Fighting Squadron 13 (VF-13). No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
On September 8, 1944 took off from USS Franklin (CV-13) on a mission over Yap. This Hellcat ditched off Yap with the pilot unhurt.

Rescue
Afterwards, Slingerland was rescued and returned to duty.
