Background
The Grumman F8F Bearcat was designated the model G-58. During February 1945, the first production aircraft were delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) to Fighter Squadron 19 (VF-19) operational by May 21, 1945 but the Pacific War and World War II ended before it entered combat.
