Aircraft History Built by Nakajima completed during late October 1942. Uncoded serial number 62. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 96 Land Based Attack Bomber Rikko / G3M2 Model 23 Nell manufacture number 462. Wartime History Assigned to Genzan Kōkūtai (Genzan Air Goup) with tail code G-375 and a diagonal white stripe. This Nell was destroyed at Lae Airfield. Wreckage On September 16, 1943 the Australian Army captured Lae Airfield. Only the tail section remained intact. Dataplate on a fuel tank was dated September 28, 1941. The tail wheel bungee was dated October 13, 1941. Horizontal tail assembly was dated October 16, 1941.
